KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The final regular season weekend will be played at home when the Truman Women's Basketball team hosts the University of Indianapolis and nationally-ranked Lewis University in Great Lakes Valley Conference games.

Thursday will be the annual "Pink Out Game" in which the team will be honoring those that have been affected by cancer and on Saturday, five seniors will be honored on "Senior Day".

The Bulldogs are on the cusp of matching the school record for wins in a season. The 21-5 squad have already posted the most wins in a regular season but could match the 98-99 and 13-14 teams with 22 overall wins. In addition, Truman is sitting on 12 conference wins and are looking to tie or pass the 15-16 team in conference wins in a season.

Through the GLVC Points Rating System (PSR), the Bulldogs have been certified as clinching a spot in next week's postseason tournament in Edwardsville, Illinois on the campus of Southern Illinois University. Truman is one of five teams that have locked down their spot in the tournament along with Drury, Lewis, Southern Indiana and Maryville. First round matchups will be determined by this weekend's results with Truman most likely falling in the three, four or five spot in the bracket. Women's tournament games will take place on Friday, March 8.

Conference win number 12 and overall win number 21 was only the second time this season that Truman won all major stat categories in a game.  The Bulldogs downed Quincy 79-56 for their largest conference win margin this season (+23) and won the glass by six, had nine more assists, seven fewer turnovers, two more blocks and two more steals than the Lady Hawks. The only other time that occurred this season was in the first meeting with UINDY. The Bulldogs beat the Greyhounds by 22 (73-51), controlled the rebounds by nine, had 10 more assists, nine fewer turnovers, five blocks and 11 steals.

It was also the third game this season in which Truman had shot greater than 50% from the floor. Mckenzie Bray was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field for 13 points and Rachel Edmundson led the way with 18 on four of five from distance.

Sloane Totta continues to hold a narrow lead on the team-scoring race over Brooke Bailey and Edmundson. Totta is averaging 11.3 points per game to go with 75 assists and 25 steals. Bailey is at 10.9 points per night with 85 assists and 23 steals and Edmundson averages 10.7 points with a team high 58 three-pointers made.

The Greyhounds have struggled in conference play and have won once (66-63 Missouri-St. Louis) in their last eight games. They are tied for 12thin the PRS and would need wins and a lot of help to climb into the top eight. They do feature two scorers in the top 10 among GLVC players with Laura Thomas and Taylor Drury averaging 14.4 and 13.8 points respectively.

Saturday, Truman will look to avenge one of their conference losses when Lewis pays a visit. The Flyers dealt the Bulldogs their most lopsided loss of the season when Lewis won 86-56 in Romeoville on January 3rd. Lewis was number two in the first set of regional rankings and features arguably one of the best Division II players in the country in Jessica Kelliher. The senior is second among all NCAA divisions in active career scoring with 2,640 points. She has won the GLVC Player of the Week award three straight weeks and 20 times in her career.

NCAA Regional Poll
The second regional poll was released on Wednesday and the top six spots remained unchanged. Drury, Lewis, Grand Valley State, Ashland, Northern Michigan and Truman held those slots with Kentucky Wesleyan jumping over Southern Indiana and Michigan Tech for the seventh spot. Cedarville is at number nine.

All three conferences in the region will award their automatic berth into the tournament to their conference champion. The other five spots will be determined by the regional rankings and criteria set by the NCAA for selection into the national tournament.

Their will be one more regional ranking, next Wednesday, prior to the selection announcement on Sunday, March 10.

WBCA Poll
For the second straight week, the Bulldogs were not mentioned in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II poll.  Truman had received votes starting on the November 27 poll date and got enough votes to crack the top 25 in two polls.

The 11 weeks mentioned this season tied the 2012-13 season for most weeks in a season receiving votes.

Truman has been ranked inside the top 25 in five weekly polls since 2004, peaking at 19 on February 5, 2013. However, the team is 3-6 in games played following a top 25 national ranking.

For the record, there are 52 Division II teams with at least 20 wins thus far and 39 teams with five or fewer losses.
