RECAP: Truman Stumbles At Home As Indianapolis Downs Bulldogs In OT

Box Score (HTML)

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - After leading by 10 points through three quarters of play, the Bulldog offense went stagnant and allowed the University of Indianapolis to pull even and then win the game outright in overtime 75-70. The Bulldogs will look to bounce back against #15 Lewis on Saturday.

Rachel Edmundson knocked down consecutive three-pointers to give Truman their largest lead at 52-37 with 4:01 left in the third quarter. The Greyhounds closed the third on an 8-3 run with Mackenzie Jerks knocking down a three-pointer with four seconds left to restore the 10-point advantage at 55-45.

Taylor Drury scored the Greyhounds first seven points in the fourth and UINDY pulled to within five.  Truman went ice cold from the floor. The Bulldogs made just two of 10 field goal attempts in the quarter and were an uncharacteristic 3-of-8 at the free throw line.

Lauren Thomas hit two free throws with 2:24 left to tie the game which would be the last points scored in regulation. UINDY turned the ball over three times in the final two minutes but Truman missed on four shot attempts including Sloane Totta's jumper as time expired.

Makenzie Bray converted on a three-point play for the first scoring in overtime but Thomas hit a pair of free throws then after a miss made a hoop to give the Greyhounds their first lead since 4:15 in the first quarter.

Totta put Truman back in front at the 3:17 mark however a series of turnovers and misses kept the Greyhounds in play. Thomas would put UINDY up for good with 43 seconds left and also knocked down two free throws with 29 seconds left to push their lead to three.

Emma Benoit led all scorers with 24 points and Thomas finished with 20, going 9-of-10 at the free throw line. The Greyhounds were 23-of-27 from the line as a team and handed the Bulldogs their most lopsided rebounding loss of the season 46-27.

Edmundson led three players in double-figures for Truman with 14 points with Bailey adding 11 and Totta 10. Truman was 5-of-22 from three for the game and 15-of-24 from the foul line.
