RECAP: Springfield Takes Finale To Win GLVC Opening Series Over Truman Baseball

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Adam Stolley went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI and Steven Bradbury added two hits in three at bats but in the end, the University of Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars took the rubber game and the series against the Truman Baseball team 19-6 on Monday.

Mason King tied the Truman career record by drawing his 89th career walk on the afternoon. King ties Bulldog Zak Larkin on the career list.
 
The Bulldogs doubleheader scheduled for Tuesday against Missouri Western was postponed with a make-up date to be determined later. Truman's next action is slated for Saturday and Sunday against Missouri S&T in Rolla.
 
UIS jumped out being the road team in the switched series with three runs in the top of the first inning. The Bulldogs got a run back in the home half of the frame with Mason King getting an infield single and Reid Wilson following with another infield hit. They both moved up on a wild pitch before Bradbury drove in King on a sac fly.
 
UIS broke the game open with two in the second, four in the third and five in the fourth.
 
Truman tried to mount a comeback with Stolley driving in Holden Missey with a hit in the fourth and a four-run fifth. The Bulldogs scored four times aided by some miscues by UIS. Brian Edell got an RBI on an error that allowed Evan Kayser to score. Bradbury scored on a wild pitch, Kory Carter drew a bases loaded walk and Stolley hit into a fielder's choice to bring in Missey.
 
The Stars went back on the offensive with a run in the sixth and ended the game with four in the eight. They had 22 hits with Chris Monroe knocking a pair of doubles among his five hits. He also drove in four runs.
 
Mason Hatch was the starter for Truman and took the loss going two innings.
