RECAP: Missouri S&T Takes First Two Of Weekend Series Over Truman Baseball

Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score

ROLLA, Mo. – Known for its St. Patrick's Day traditions, the Missouri S&T Miners were not gracious hosts to the Truman Baseball team to start their three-game weekend conference series. The Miners swept Saturday's twinbill by scores of 11-1 and 5-0. The teams will return to action for the series finale on Sunday at noon.

Game 1 Recap:
For the sixth straight game Truman struggled to get out of the first inning without a crooked number put on the scoreboard. S&T aided by a leadoff hit batsman and compounded by an infield error, put up a five spot in the bottom of the first and went out to defeat the Bulldogs 11-1 in seven innings.

The Miners put single runs up in the second and third innings to go up 7-0 before Truman got on the board in the fourth.

Evan Kayser connected on a one-out double down the first baseline and scored on Brian Edell's two-out hit to right.

Luke Marcheschi fanned five Bulldogs and allowed five hits over seven innings to improve to 5-0 on the season for S&T.

Mason King had a double, Steven Bradbury and Ethan Kleinheider had singles to round out Truman's offense. Rian Markes allowed seven runs, three earned and nine hits over three innings of work and Josh Woodmansee surrendered four runs, three earned in three-plus innings of relief.

Game 2 Recap:

The damage was limited to only one run in the first for S&T in game two but three in the fifth and another in the eight helped the Miners to a 5-0 win in game two. S&T scored three in the fifth and tacked on another in the eighth.

It was starter Dalton Erger that kept Truman on ice for nine innings. Erger went the distance for S&T, striking out eight and scattering five hits to improve to 3-2 on the season.

Reid Wilson had two of the five hits and Mason King picked up his second double of the day but was stranded leading off the ninth.
Conner McKenna allowed one earned run on eight hits and struck out one in five innings of work.
