RECAP: Miners Complete Weekend Series Sweep With 7-2 Win Over Truman Baseball

Box Score

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T completed the three-game Great Lakes Valley Conference sweep over the Truman Baseball team on Sunday with a 7-2 victory over the Bulldogs. Truman will open up the home slate of their schedule on Wednesday with a conference doubleheader against William Jewell. First pitch is set for noon.

The Miners struck first in the bottom of the second inning when a leadoff error led to an unearned run. They would add another run on an RBI single to right center by Kaleb Reid.

A pair of runs crossed the plate on a throwing error following a strikeout that would have ended the inning in the fourth. S&T would score a third run to go up 5-0.

The Bulldogs had their first two hitters reach in the fifth with Kory Carter reaching on an infield single and Adam Stolley drawing a walk. However, a fielders' choice erased Carter at third and a pop out and line out ended the inning with S&T unscathed.

S&T tacked on a single run in their fifth.

Evan Kayser led off the eighth with a walk and Steven Bradbury doubled to put both runners in scoring position. Brian Edell brought home Kayser with a sac fly and Bradbury touched home on a groundout from Holden Missey.

The Miners doubled up the Bulldogs on hits in the game with a 12-6 advantage but Truman left 11 runners on base compared to S&T's 10.

Blaine Dunbar got the win in relief for S&T while starter Mason Hatch took the loss but struck out five in five innings.
