KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – For the third time in six Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament appearances, the Truman Women's Basketball team will face the Maryville Saints. The game on Friday night at 8:30 p.m. on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will close out the quarterfinal round of the tournament.

The Bulldogs enter as the number four seed in the eight-team bracket having matched the school record for conference wins in a season at 13. Lucky number 13 was a memorable one as Truman downed #15 Lewis 89-67 for senior day. Katie Jaseckas notched her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Rachel Edmundson knocked down five three-pointers en route to 19 points. Truman held the three-time GLVC Player of the Year, Jessica Kelliher to a season-low nine points and only her third career game out of 123 in single-digit scoring.

Speaking of all-GLVC, Truman had four honorees on the list voted on by conference coaches. Leading the way with a first-team selection was junior Sloane Totta. At 11.2 points per game, Totta led the Bulldogs during the regular season in scoring. She becomes the 10thTruman player to earn first-team all-conference accolades with Cassidy Clark being the last following the 2017 season. Totta was third team choice last season and named to the all-Freshman team in 2017.

Edmundson and Brooke Bailey were both named to the second-team all-GLVC team. Edmundson garners her third all-conference nod after a third team selection last season and second team choice her sophomore season. She was Truman's leading three-point shooter with 66 triples this year and averages 11.1 points per game. Bailey earns her first all-league award after finishing the regular season at 10.9 points per game and a team-high 93 assists.

Maddie Re was named to the All-Freshman team after leading the team in rebounding as a redshirt freshman. Re averages 7.1 rebounds per game and 6.6 points per night. Rachel Steinhoff was Truman's nominee for the James R. Spaulding Sportsmanship Award.

Maryville has won the last three matchups with the Bulldogs including this season's 85-78 decision in Pershing Arena back on January 19. The Saints knocked down 12 three-pointers, turned the ball over only seven times and doubled up the Bulldogs on free throw attempts to pick up the road win. Mary Barton scored 23 points and Hunter Stidham added 19 with both going a combine 14-of-14 at the free throw stripe.

Each team led for over 19 minutes with the Saints having a 10-point lead erased in the second quarter and the Bulldogs seeing an eight-point third quarter lead evaporate. A 7-0 run midway through the fourth quarter gave the Saints a lead they would not surrender.

The Bulldogs had four starters in double-figures led by Katie Jaseckas' 16 points. Truman was 8-of-27 from three and 10-of-10 at the foul line. Maryville scored 20 points off of 14 Truman turnovers while the Bulldogs managed seven points off of seven Saints miscues.

The winner will move on to the semifinals on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. They will get the victor of the Drury/McKendree game. The Lady Panthers are the top seed and undefeated at 28-0 this season.

Truman has played nine games against participants in this year's GLVC Tournament and is 5-4 against the field. They've played two teams (#2 Lewis & #7 William Jewell) twice and split with home team winning. The other wins are at #6 Bellarmine, at #3 Southern Indiana and at home against #8 McKendree while the losses are at #1 Drury and home against #5 Maryville.

NCAA Regional Poll
A turbulent week within the region has resulted in small changes in this weeks poll. A win against #2 Lewis outweighed the loss home loss to the sub. 500 UINDY and jumped Truman from six to five in this week's rankings. Southern Indiana moved up two spots from eighth to six. Four of the eight teams in last week's poll suffered a loss.

The top four remained unchanged with Drury, Lewis, Grand Valley State and Ashland leading the group. Kentucky Wesleyan, Michigan Tech hold on to the final two spots and Northern Michigan (last week's number five) dropped to ninth and Walsh is at 10th.

In the GLIAC tournament, Grand Valley, Ashland, Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech will play in the semifinals while in the GMAC, Kentucky Wesleyan, Cedarville, Walsh and Hillsdale will be in that conference final four.

WBCA Poll
For the third straight week, the Bulldogs were not mentioned in this week's Women's Basketball Coaches Association Division II poll.  Truman had received votes starting on the November 27 poll date and got enough votes to crack the top 25 in two polls.

The 11 weeks mentioned this season tied the 2012-13 season for most weeks in a season receiving votes.

Truman has been ranked inside the top 25 in five weekly polls since 2004, peaking at 19 on February 5, 2013. However, the team is 3-6 in games played following a top 25 national ranking.

For the record, there are 27 Division II teams with 22 wins this season and 46 teams with six losses or fewer.
