DEJA VU: Reisinger Earns Back-to-Back GLVC Player of the Week Honors

GLVC Release

INDIANAPOLIS - Deja vu: a feeling of having already experienced the present situation. For the eighth time in her career, fourth this season and second in as many weeks, Truman softball's Christa Reisinger is the GLVC Player of the Week. With each passing game, the company with which Reisinger surrounds herself is becoming more exclusive and this announcement is just another testament to that.

Reisinger joins Rockhurst's Emily Truitt as the league's only back-to-back winners this season, something that had never been done by a Truman player in six years of GLVC membership. Something else that had never been accomplished by a Bulldog, or any GLVC player ever for that matter, was receiving this honor four times in a single season... Enter Reisinger. The GLVC has experienced this multiple times on the pitching side, though, including Truman's own Kindra Henze, the program's fourth all time winningest pitcher, doing so four times as a sophomore in 2014.

This past week in an eight-game stretch for Truman (5-3 record), Reisinger hit .667 (14-for-21) with a 1.286 slugging percentage and on-base percentage of .774. The scintillating senior partnered those numbers with 16 runs, one double, four home runs, seven RBI, 27 total bases, nine walks, one hit-by-pitch, only one strikeout, and 15 stolen bases in 16 attempts.

Breaking it down even further, those 15 stolen bases helped Reisinger break both the program's single-season mark of 45 (Christen Belcher in 2006) and its career record of 153 (Belcher in 2005-08). With the 27 total bases, the southpaw speedster also surpassed Elizabeth Economon's career mark of 495 (2001-04).

Reisinger hit a pair of home runs in both game one at Missouri S&T and game one at Drury to give her 13 blasts for the season, a new career high. That also means she has four multi-homer games to her name, three of which have come this season. Also in that first game against the Panthers, Reisinger went 4-for-4 to pick up her fifth career four-hit game and third this season. That game was one of four on the week in which she had at least two hits.

Since joining the conference prior to the 2014 season, the Bulldogs have now been accredited with Player of the Week 12 times (Reisinger - 8, Lex Van Nostrand - 2 and Andrea Klipsch - 2) and Pitcher of the Week eight times (Kindra Henze - 4, Lauren Dale - 3 and Alyssa Hajduk - 1).

Next up, Reisinger and her fellow seniors will play their final home games on Saturday when they host Quincy for a Senior Day doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
