This is the first GLVC Championship to be held at Stokes Stadium and first conference championship meet since the 2003 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) championship.

About the Meet:

Twelve of the 14 GLVC schools will be represented in the meet with Lewis University looking to win their fourth straight team title on the women's side and Missouri S&T looking to defend their 2018 men's title.  The University of Indianapolis men and the Lewis women were the winners of the 2019 Indoor Championships held in February on the campus of UINDY.

Lewis has won nine women's championships since the meet began in 1996 and has won the last three outdoor titles. UINDY has won seven women's titles while former member Southern Illinois Edwardsville claimed the other four championships.

On the men's side, UINDY has claimed a league-best six team titles, followed by SIU-Edwardsville (5), Lewis' four and Missouri S&T's four. McKendree is the fifth school to have won a team title doing so in 2017.

Record Watching:
Comparing the GLVC Performance list to both the Stokes Stadium/GLVC record boards has a potential of up to 11 different marks being broken at the meet. The following is a breakdown.

Women's 1500– Stadium record is 4:37.27 set in 1998 by Charlene Neptune of Lincoln University while Lauren Bailey (UINDY) and Mickayla Wenzel (UINDY) have times this season in the 4:35 range.

Men's 10,000– Stadium record is 31:03.4 by Jay Hill of Central Missouri in 2003 and the GLVC mark is 30:34.19 by Andrew McLain of Lewis in 2015. Illinois Springfield freshman Blake Jones has a season-best time of 30:28.49.

Women's 10,000– The stadium record of 37:51.9 is currently held by Kathy Kearns of Northwest Missouri set in 1998 while junior Hope Jones from Southern Indiana has the top time of 35:29.55 in the conference. She is joined on the NCAA provisional list for that event by UIS freshman Taryn Christy (36:18.73).

Men's 800– The stadium record was set by John Heil of Northwest Missouri in 2003 at 1:51.95 and the GLVC record, the oldest remaining record in the league, of 1:50.98 is currently held by David Locker of Lewis in 1997. Junior John Partee from Lewis has the top seed time and an NCAA provisional time of 1:50.97.

Women's 3,000 Steeplechase– Suzanne Schmidt of Truman owns the stadium record since 2002 of 11:15.94. UINDY senior Briana Leonard ran 11:01.92 earlier this month to lead the top times in the conference.

Women's 5,000– Both the stadium record of 17:27.38 set by Evelina Slatinska of Central Methodist and the conference time of 16:50.54 held by Julia Kohnen of Southern Indiana in 2015 are in jeopardy. Lauren Bailey from UINDY has run 16:44.64 this spring and is an NCAA provisional qualifier.

Men's Hammer Throw– The stadium record of 211-9 is held by Jeff Kremer from Central Missouri in 1999 and the conference record of 220-3 is held by UINDY's Matt Royer set in 2012. Senior Austin Hogan, who is the two-time field athlete of the year in the conference has an NCAA automatic mark in the hammer at 221-7. Hogan also sits atop the performance list in the discus and shot put.

Women's Long Jump– Cierra Pulliam, who finished fourth nationally in the indoor long jump and second in the triple jump, has the top mark of 19-5.25. The stadium record held by two individuals since 1998 is 19-6.

Women's Triple Jump– Pulliam already owns the conference record in the event, set last year with a distance of 42-8.25 and along with the GLVC leader Tsitsi Machachi of McKendree (40-5.00) will look to break the stadium record of Truman's Karena Singleton set in 2000 of 39-2.25.

Women's Shot Put– Katie Monk is the two-time GLVC field event athlete of the year and the senior already has the conference record in the shot at 49-00.75. Lane Kadlec of Lewis has matched Monk in the event this year with a top throw of 50-0.50. Both marks are currently better than the stadium record of 46-10.74 held by Julie Humphreys of Northwest Missouri in 1998.

Women's High Jump– 2019 Indoor National Champion, Yashira Rhymer-Stuart from Bellarmine has an NCAA automatic qualifying height of 5-11.25 set earlier in April. The conference record is 5-8.75 held by Emily Schaf of Indianapolis since 2007 and the stadium record of 5-6.00 is held by Heather Kleckner of Wisconsin-LaCrosse since 2001.

Of note, the oldest stadium record is the 1970 mark of 50-3.25 in the triple jump by Bulldog Tom Geredine. McKendree's Michael Adderley has an NCAA provisional mark and the top length thus far in the conference at 48-1.75. Geredine was Truman's highest ever NFL draft pick, taken in the fourth round by the Atlanta Falcons in 1973.

The Bulldog Angle:
Both Truman teams finished sixth at the indoor championships in February and had two conference champions on the men's side. Brandon Hackamack was the triple jump champion with a leap of 46-11.75. He is seeded second in the outdoor version with a mark of 46-6.

Elijah Farrales was the indoor champion in the 400-meter dash and has the current top time in the conference in the outdoor season at 48.21. Farrales also runs the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay, which is second in the league currently at 3:19.47. The other members of that relay team are Eddie Barrett, Mitch Henderson and Kyle Kubernat.

Barrett has the second fastest time in the 200-meter dash at 22.2 and is sixth in the 400 at 49.61. Carson Lackey has the second quickest time in the 100 at 10.85. Bobby Campbell is ranked third in the discus and fifth in both the hammer and javelin. Finally, Nathan Bufka has posted the fourth-best mark in the javelin at 169-3.

Elle Renault will be looking to defend her 2018 GLVC javelin title. The Truman senior won the event last year by 12 feet over McKendree's Kirby Smith. Renault again has the top seed mark of 133-1 to Smith's 125-4 heading into the finals on Saturday. Ally Ebert from Truman is third in the event at 123-5.

Hannah Oberdiek earned all-conference honors in the indoor long jump with a second place finish and is ranked third in the event at 18-8.5 having set that distance in the Truman Quad meet last time out. She was also second in the outdoor meet last season.

Cassidy Smestad enters the meet second in the discus at 146-9, third in the shot (44-11.75) and eighth in the hammer (153-8).

Hannah Sells has an NCAA provisional mark and is ranked fourth in the pole vault at 11-11.75, Marissa Gress is ranked fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.29 and Grace Feeney is seeded seventh in the heptathlon scoring 3,844 points earlier in April.

The Bulldog women finished fifth and the men eighth at the outdoor meet last May in Romeoville, Illinois and hosted by Lewis University.
