KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – In a game that lived up to its billing,
Maddie Re's layup off an inbounds pass from
Sloane Totta with 1.8 seconds remaining gave the Truman Women's Basketball team a 78-77 win over Maryville University on Saturday afternoon.

Re scored a career high 17 points and added 10 rebounds but it was either eighth of 10 field goal attempts made that was the difference maker. Truman (9-3; 5-0 GLVC) led by eight with 2:52 to play but the Saints chipped away with defensive stops and timely shooting to grab a 77-76 lead on Mary Barton's 28
th point of the night on a dribble drive with 2.9 seconds remaining.

Following the first of two lengthy video reviewing involving the clock at the end, Totta went cross court on her inbounds pass to find Re under the basket for the winner.

Maryville (8-4; 3-2 GLVC) advanced the ball after the timeout and replay delay and Barton's three-pointer missed to give Truman their fifth straight Great Lakes Valley Conference win to start the season.

Both teams shot 46% from the field with Truman making nine triples and 13-of-17 from the foul line and the Saints making 10-of-16 threes (62%) and 7-of-11 from the stripe.

Katie Jaseckas and Totta each added 16 points with Jaseckas raining in three shots from distance. Totta added four three pointers and dished out four assists.
Hannah Belanger was the fourth Truman player in double-figures with 12 points.

Barton, the league's leading scorer entering the game, poured in 28 points with five threes. Abby Monis matched Barton in scoring, going 13-of-18 from the field.

The game featured 11 lead changes. The visitors led 18-17 after one and erased a six-point Bulldog lead in the second to take a 40-36 lead into the locker room at half. Maryville led by as many as seven in the third before Truman scored 12 of the next 15 to lead 54-52 at the end of three.

Truman will continue their four-game homestand next weekend hosting Illinois Springfield on Thursday and Lewis University on Saturday.
