A School Record & Another Second Quarter Surge Lead Bulldogs Past McKendree

Box Score (HTML)

LEBANON, Ill. – Junior Katie Jaseckas matched a school record with seven blocked shots and the Truman Women's Basketball team cruised past the McKendree Bearcats 77-60 to complete the road sweep. The win gave the Bulldogs a three-game road sweep and moved them to 13-4 overall and 9-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Jaseckas' seven blocks match games by Michalina Tomczak (against Bellarmine in 2015) and Georgia Mueller (against William Penn in 2007) for the most by a Bulldog. In the process, she moved into the single-season top 10 at Truman with 36 and climbed into the career top five for the Bulldogs with 83.

The Bulldogs outscored the Bearcats 21-9 in the second quarter shooting 8-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point land and led 39-25 at half. The Bearcats closed to gap to four early in the fourth quarter before Truman went on a 21-6 run to extend their lead to their largest at the time of 19 points.

Truman continues to share the scoring as four Bulldogs finished the game in double figures. The Bulldogs were led by senior guard Sloane Totta with 17 points shooting 6-of-12 from the field and 3-of-5 from behind the arc and added six dimes. Jaseckas finished with her first double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds to go along with the seven blocks and one steal. Maddie Re had 12 points and added eight rebounds. Tiffany Davenport had two assists to go with her 11 points off the bench.

Truman continued to show their dominance on the glass winning the rebound battle 41 to 33.

The Bearcats (10-8; 3-7 GLVC) were led in scoring by Jordan Herberg with 14 points.

The Bulldogs will return home for the next four games starting next weekend as they will meet Rockhurst University (9-9; 3-7 GLVC) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and William Jewell (7-11; 3-7 GLVC) on Saturday at 1 p.m. It will complete the season series with both teams as Truman downed both the Hawks and Cardinals in early January on the road.
