Box Score (PDF)

ROMEOVILLE, Ill - An impressive debut for the 2020-21 Truman Women's Basketball team as they erased a 12-point first half deficit on the road and downed the Lewis Flyers 76-66 on Friday afternoon.

Hannah Belanger shook off a slow start and led Truman with 20 points on 4-of-9 shooting from three and added six assists in 32 minutes. Katie Jaseckas added a double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds while blocking five shots on the afternoon.

Rebounding was key as Truman pounded the glass 19 more times (57-38) than the Flyers and had 20 offensive rebounds in the victory. Ellie Weltha, who had 25 total rebounds in 18 games last season, got the start and pulled down a game-high 12 boards while adding four points.

Tiffany Davenport dished out a career-best 10 assists while leading the team in minutes played with 34.

Truman was ice cold to start the game and did not hit a three-pointer until Belanger cut the cords for the first basket of the second quarter.

Lewis led by their largest margin at 27-15 with 7:53 to go before half but Truman rattled off 12 straight of their own and a 15-2 run with Maya Mouton giving the Bulldogs a 30-29 lead with 2:28 left in the half.

Belanger would score 15 points in the second half for her fifth 20+ point game at the start of her second season. Jaseckas notched her 14th career double-double. Jaseckas moved into Truman's career top 10 in rebounding and moved to one blocked shot from third on the career list with her five on the day.

Lewis was paced by 15 points from Stephanie Hart and 13 from Kathryn Schmidt.

Truman will head to the University of Indianapolis for a Sunday afternoon affair. Tip time is slated for 1 p.m. (ET). The Greyhounds host William Jewell on Friday in their season opener.
