During Amy Eagan's first season as head coach, Truman set multiple program milestones. The team tied a record for wins in a season with 22 (which was later broken by the 2018-19 team) and won their first conference tournament championship. Eagan was a standout for the Bulldogs on the floor and was just as impactful as a coach during her time leading the Bulldogs.
The first three games of the season saw Truman put on an absolute clinic. The Bulldogs rolled over Stephens College 101-27, then at the Northwest Missouri State Classic beat the hosts 91-71 and then Lincoln 83-60. It was the first time the Bulldogs had beaten the Bearcats at Maryville in ten years. Amy Briggs led the team in scoring both games with 21 and 12 points--respectively to be named tournament MVP.
Truman suffered their first loss at the hands of Grand Valley State in Nashville at the Trevecca Nazarene Tournament the following weekend. But after downing the hosts 82-70 then returning home for wins over Hannibal-LaGrange and Grand View (Iowa) the Bulldogs had a 6-1 start.
In their first GLVC game in program history, the Bulldogs fell to Quincy 79-75 on their home floor. It was the start of a three game skid that included losses to a former conference opponent in Pittsburg State from the MIAA and then new GLVC opponent Lewis. But then, the streak began.
The Bulldogs reeled off eight straight wins--all in GLVC play. It started against Wisconsin-Parkside as Bianca Szafarowicz led the team with 17 points, 11 rebounds and six assists to propel Truman to a 74-68 win. The next five wins would all be by double digits as they rolled Illinois Springfield 94-65, McKendree 81-66, UMSL 70-55, Maryville 87-73 and Rockhurst 63-52. William Jewell gave Truman a run for their money--the Cardinals led 30-27 at half. A 56 point second half gave Truman the 83-75 win, as Allie Norton led the way with 21 points.
With an 80-52 domination of Missouri S&T, the Bulldogs won their eighth straight and set a new school record for longest winning streak. The streak came to an end the next week as Truman faced #7 Drury and fought hard but lost 93-86.
Truman closed the season on a 4-3 stretch--including wins over Southern Indiana, Bellarmine, St. Joseph's (Ind.) and on Senior Day against #16 Quincy.
In the GLVC Tournament, Truman downed William Jewell in the first round 70-58, then eliminated Lewis in the quarterfinals 84-70. In the semifinals against Quincy, Nicole Gloor led the Bulldogs to victory with 24 points to set up a championship matchup with Maryville. Down 32-27 going into the second half, the Bulldogs limited the Saints to just 13 points in the second half and won 58-45 to capture the GLVC Tournament title in their first year in the conference.
Truman made their first postseason appearance since 1999 and fell to Drury 74-68. But it was the start of great things to come for the Bulldog women's basketball program.
Amy Briggs earned first team All-GLVC honors while Allie Norton made the second team. Briggs set a program record with 80 three pointers made, which stands today. Over the course of the season the team scored 2,444 points, which is second in program history.
