The Men's track and cross country teams dominated the MIAA in the 1960's-winning six MIAA cross country titles in the decade.
Ed Schneider, one of the most decorated runners in Bulldog history, captured the individual national title with a time of 19:43.9 in 1964. He was a three time All-American (1962, 1963, 1964) and finished fifth and seventh in 1962 and 1963, respectively, before finishing first in 1964.
In just the third year of the program in 1960, the Bulldogs finished fourth nationally--up from 34th the year before.
As a team, Cross Country finished first in the MIAA each year from 1960-64, and also won the conference title in 1968. The team never finished below second during the decade. Moreover, the Bulldogs had eight individual champions at the conference meet:
1960: James McFadden, 20:56.7
