KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Men's Soccer team returned to Kirksville Friday afternoon as they took on the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles, falling 2-0. Second half goals from Zach Barton and Zach Schoenstein put USI up and Brian Winkler assisted on both goals.
Early on Truman made the first two attempts on goal, with Sam Newton and Mac Knudsen both testing USI keeper Justin Faas. In a quickly played first half, USI had two attempts on goal late, both of which were stopped by Justin Olwig to keep it scoreless into the intermission.
In the second half, Olwig stopped an attempt by Barton in the 52nd minute. A few minutes later Andy Brennan had a good shot for the Bulldogs but it went just wide. In the 58th minute Barton struck for his goal to put USI ahead. USI struck again in the 74th minute as Schoenstein got his shot past Olwig for the second goal of the game. Collin McDonough had the last effort for the Bulldogs but his bottom right shot was saved by Faas.
Truman will be back in action on Sunday as they host McKendree with a noon start.
