#2 Greyhounds Down Bulldogs With Two Second Half Goals

INDIANAPOLIS—The Truman Men's Soccer team took on the second ranked Greyhounds of UIndy Sunday afternoon and hung tough in the first half as they kept the Greyhounds off the scoreboard. But eventually the Greyhounds proved too much as the Bulldogs defense could not hold the Greyhounds off in the second half.

In the first half, UIndy peppered the Truman net but a tough defense by the Bulldogs blocked four shots over a span of two minutes to keep the scoreboard at double zeros. Justin Olwig made the first of his seven saves in the 28th minute as he stopped a low center effort from Ewan Lynch. Andy Brennan recorded the first shot on goal for the Bulldogs in the 35th minute, but could not slide it past Greyhounds keeper Dimitrios Karousos. Truman kept the UIndy barrage of 15 shots, with one on goal, from being put on the scoreboard.

Thomas Weber took the first shot of the second half—less than a minute in; which Karousos stopped. Just a couple minutes later, UIndy tested Olwig and the Bulldog keeper stood firm. Olwig made another save in the 50th minute before Bryan Moreira beat Olwig to get UIndy on the board in the 55th minute. Max Sengl took a shot to even the game for Truman in the 69th minute but he missed to the right of the cage. In the 82nd minute Alejandro Steinwascher found the net for UIndy to put them ahead 2-0. Jack Knust tried to get Truman on the board in the 87th minute but was stopped, then Collin McDonough took the last shot for Truman in the 90th minute, but it was blocked.

Olwig tied his season high with seven saves in this match. Truman will return home this coming weekend to take on Quincy this coming Friday and then Illinois Springfield on Sunday.
