Bulldogs & Greyhounds Draw Even In Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS - Oliva Morris staked the Truman Women's Soccer team to a 1-0 lead but a PK goal by the Indianapolis Greyhounds leveled the match and it ended in a 1-1 draw on Sunday afternoon.

Off a throw in, Chance Douglass broke down the right side and slid a pass to Morris. The freshman slid between two defenders and found the back of the net for her first goal as a Bulldog in the 16th minute.

Eight minutes later, a UINDY attacker was obstructed just inside the 18-yard box and right along the goal line and the official awarded a penalty. Kiki Sauceda scored her ninth goal of the season by converting the free kick and the score was tied at one apiece.

The Greyhounds had an 8-1 advantage in shots in the second half with three finding the goal for UINDY as Beth Hopwood made the stops.

Truman had two shots, one in each 10 minute overtime session with Faith Branson attempting one last shot that was saved in the final 20 seconds of the match.

With the draw, Truman remains one point behind UINDY in the conference standings for third place overall. The Bulldogs have 15 points with a 4-2-3 league record.

Truman returns home next weekend with matches against Quincy on Friday and Illinois Springfield on Sunday.  Both kickoffs are slated for 2:30 p.m.
