#23 Truman Women Drop Second Straight 87-77 To Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – The #23 Truman Women's Basketball team suffered their second straight defeat to start the 2021-22 season as they fell to Ursuline College 87-77 at the GLVC/GMAC/GLIAC Conference Challenge.
 
Maddie Re and Ellie Weltha each had 17 points for Truman but the Arrows outscored the Bulldogs 44-22 over the second and third quarters to take control of the game.
 
Only six Ursuline players saw the court on Saturday with Michaela Cloonan scoring 28 points on 12-of-17 shooting and a pair of three-pointers. Bekah Green added 20 points and Madison Cloonan chipped in 19.
 
The Arrows took a 33-28 lead into the locker room and used a 15-0 run in the third quarter to take a 23-point lead into the fourth. Ursuline was 13-of-16 with four three-pointers in the third.
 
Truman had their longest run of the contest with 10 straight in the fourth and cut the lead down to six on a Katey Klucking three-pointer with 2:09 to play. Brioenne Burns hit another triple with 10 seconds left to again cut the margin to three but the Arrows would convert from the line in the final seconds to push the victory margin to double-digits.
 
The Bulldogs start the season 0-2 for the first time since the 2010-11 campaign. They will head to Marshall, Minnesota next weekend for the Southwest Minnesota State Classic. The Bulldogs will face Minot State on Friday at 3 p.m. and host Mustangs on Saturday at 4 p.m.
