SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A 15-0 run that started near the end of the third quarter and lasted to the midway point of the fourth quarter doomed the Truman Bulldogs on Tuesday as they fell to Union (Tenn.) University 67-60 in the opening game of the Drury Thanksgiving Classic.

Truman (2-3) fell behind by 10 early on and had to play catch-up for most of the afternoon. Hannah Belanger got Truman even with Union at the 4:34 mark of the third quarter. The Bulldogs would go up 44-41 on a three-pointer by Emma Bulman with 2:13 to go but that would be the last points Truman would score for the next six minutes and 15 seconds of game time.

Belanger would ring the triple bell to stop the 15-0 spurt by Union and Truman could only pull to within five on three occasions as the Union Bulldogs would keep Truman at bay. 

Maddie Re led Truman in scoring with 15 points and added five steals while Ellie Weltha notched her third straight double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Belanger added 14 points and six assists.

Truman shot 41% for the game and made 8-of-24 from distance.

Union (3-1) was paced by 18 points from Jaelencia Williams and 14 from Shanique Lucas. Union shot 55% from the field and over 60% in the second half.

Truman returns to the court on Wednesday afternoon against Saginaw Valley (Mich.) State at 1 p.m. The Cardinals will face host Drury University on Tuesday.
