KIRKSVILLE, Mo.—The Truman Men's Basketball team was back in action Saturday afternoon as they took on Central Christian College of the Bible, an NCCAA opponent from Moberly for the first time since 2018 and Truman jumped out to a quick lead and never let up as they pulled away for a 108-48 win. Masen Miller led the Bulldogs with 22 points, joined in double figures by Hunter Strait with and Dylan Peeters who each had 16, Sam Lock with 12 and Keaton Mitchell with 11. Mitchell had his first career double-double with 11 points-10 rebounds and Peeters also had ten boards, tying for the team lead. Strait also had a double-double with 16 points and ten assists.
Truman was hot to begin the game, and shot 24-36 from the floor in the first half (66.7%) and 11-19 (57.9%) from three point range. Miller led off the game with a three, and as would be the pattern most of the game around every media timeout the Bulldogs made wholesale changes. At 15:41, with Truman up 10-2, all five starters (Strait, Miller, Peeters, Elijah Hazekamp and Eric Northweather) made way for Sam Nissen, Trey Shearer, Josh Ollendieck, Mitchell and Lock. Nissen made a three and Ollendieck got a steal and fastbreak layup to make it 15-2. CCCB scored seven straight to make it 15-9, but it was as close as they would get the rest of the game. At 10:40 Truman had pushed their lead to 20 with a layup from Hazekamp and the lead grew from there and Truman ultimately took a 61-28 lead into halftime.
The Bulldogs opened up the second half with a 17-0 run to push the lead up to 76-28, and finally the lead swelled to 50 with a three from Trey Shearer with 11:49 to go. At the 10:49 mark, Devin Fields made a three pointer for his first Bulldog points. He put in another three shortly after and finished with six points. Ollendieck also made his first triple as a Bulldog in the second half. Peeters set a new career high with six steals in the game.
It will be 18 days until the Bulldogs take the floor again, as their next game will be at home on December 29th against Grandview University at 3:00 pm in Pershing Arena.
