ROLLA, Mo. - Katey Klucking scored a game-high 14 points including clutch free throws in the waining minutes as the Truman Women's Basketball team survived a fourth quarter rally by Missouri S&T 71-63.
It was all Truman early as they stormed out to a 21-5 first quarter lead, scoring 16 straight points and capitalized on 2-of-10 S&T shooting and seven turnovers.
The Bulldogs led by as many as 18 (51-33) with under a minute to go in the third quarter.Â
S&T scored the first 13 points in the fourth quarter and closed the gap to four on a three-pointer by Marta Durk.Â
Gracie Stugart got Truman's offense back on track as she responded with her first collegiate trey on the Bulldogs next possession and the team went on a quick 7-0 run to go back up by 11 at the media timeout.
The Miners scored the next seven points to climb back to within four at 62-58 with 1:43 left to play.Â
Following a miss and offensive rebound by Truman, Stugart converted on a pair of free throws.Â
Klucking would score five straight from the line and added a steal to put the game out of reach.
The Bulldog bench outscored their S&T counterparts 24-8 in the game with Stugart and Madison Niemeier each knocking down nine points each. Ellie Weltha added 12 and Hannah Belanger scored 10.
Truman (9-5; 5-1 GLVC) again dominated the glass 50-34 with Maddie Re pulling down 10 boards.
The Miners (4-8; 1-5 GLVC) got 18 points, all in the second half by Durk and 14 from Alex Kerr.Â
The Bulldogs will look for the season sweep as they encounter Maryville University on Saturday in Chesterfield, Missouri. Truman held on for a 70-67 win over the Saints back on December 4th. Tip time is slated for 1 p.m.Â
