KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Junior Jacob Morris set a new Truman Indoor record in the weight throw as the Bulldogs returned to action for the first time in 2022.
Morris and the Bulldog throwers headed first on Friday to the South Dakota State D2 Invitational in Brookings, South Dakota where Morris took second and set a new Bulldog standard in the Weight Throw. His third toss flew 19.51 (64-0.25) to break the previous record of 19.11 (62-8-50) by current teammate Bobby Campbell. Campbell set his record at the 2020 GLVC Championships.Â
Campbell finished fourth with a toss of 18.55 (60-10.50).
Madison Peavler, Natalie Telep and Elaina Gorton competed in the Shot Put for the women in South Dakota with Peavler placing the highest at 26th with a mark of 11.39m (37-4.50).
Moving to Saturday's results in Maryville at the Northwest Invitational. Thomas Cormier was the winner in the men's 5000 meter run at 15:16.01. Lily Ende was third and Cora Stimpson fourth in the women's 5K.Â
Campbell took fourth in the Weight at 18.53m.
Grace Feeney qualified eighth and placed sixth in the finals of the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.89.
Sophie Oxandale was eighth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.11.Â
In relays, the men's 4x200 team of Cooper Doolin, Jake Higgs, Shane Johnson and Cole Davenport outraced Grandview (Iowa) to the line for the win in 1:33.78.
The women's 4x200 team of Brianna Barton, Feeney, Hally Blackwell and Kirsten Poole finished third in 1:50.95.Â
The women's 4x800 relay team of Alayna Pipkin, Natalie Smith, Addie Mathis and Reese Howard finished third with a time of 10:02.44.
The teams are scheduled to return to Northwest Missouri for their next meet, the Bearcat Open on February 4th.
