INDIANAPOLIS - Bulldog Football defensive back Peyton Carr was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference defensive player of the week following Truman States 25-20 victory over Southwest Baptist on Saturday night.
Carr led the top ranked defense in the GLVC with a game-high 11 tackles (six solo) while also making two tackles for loss. He and Garrett Linn combine on the only quarterback sack in the game when they brought down SBU signal caller Copper Callis for a four yard loss on third and eight at the Truman 12 yard line with the Bulldogs clinging to an 18-14 lead with under two minutes left to play.
Carr also was credited with a quarterback hurry earlier in the drive to force an incomplete pass and bring up a second and 10 from the Truman 43.
The Truman defense ranks first in the conference in points allowed (17.3/game) and total defense (315.0/game) and have won five straight games.
