BOLIVAR, Mo. - Southwest Baptist University defeated Truman State 72-59 to snap the Bulldogs' five-game win streak.
It was an extremely competitive contest, with neither side having an edge for most of the game. There were 12 lead changes in the game, with Truman's last lead being up 43-40 with 6:07 left in the third quarter.
The Bearcats started to pull away in the fourth quarter, taking a 10-point lead with 2:38 left in the game. SBU was able to hold their lead, and won by 13.
Ellie Weltha led Truman in scoring with 18 points. Weltha added nine rebounds and two assists.
Hannah Belanger had her 11th-straight game scoring double-digit points, putting up 13 with five rebounds and four assists.
Truman takes a trip to Lakeland, Florida for the Florida Southern Christmas Classic to play Florida Southern College and Eckerd College.
