PELLA, Iowa - The Truman State Track & Field teams brought home six individual wins and a women's 4x400 relay victory at the Central (Iowa) College Dutch Holiday Preview on Friday event.
Jacob Morris broke his own school record in the weight throw and also won the shot put while
Addison Walker swept the long and triple jumps.
The reigning GLVC Field Athlete of the Week, Morris, set new personal best in both of his throwing events on Friday. His weight cleared 19.77m (64-10.50) to set a new school record in the process. His previous record was 19.51m (64-00.25). He posted a mark of 16.07 meters (52-08.75) to take top honors in the shot as well.
Kelly Hoskins earned a gold and bronze in two events. Hoskins cleared 11.95m (39-02.50) to win the triple jump and went over 3.80m (12-05.50) to finish third in the pole vault.
Cooper Doolin, Ryan Gustafson and Gavin Hill won silver medals in their respective events. Doolin was second in the 300 at 36.62, Gustafson was second in the 600 with a time of 1:27.07 and Hill was third in the 5000 meter run at 9:18.79.
Walker set a new personal best in the long jump with a distance of 5.18m (17-00.00) to claim the top spot. She went 10.53m (34-6.75) in the triple.Â
Oxandale led the all five Truman State runners to the finish line in the 600 meter run. She ran a PR time of 1:37.65 to edge out teammates Alayna Pipkin (1:39.63), Raina Baker (1:41.80), Kendall Dasher (1:42.70) and Molly Bies (1:44.10). Oxandale anchored the team of Pipkin, Bies and Lydia Lehmbeck to the win in the 4x400 meter relay as they bested the Truman squad of Dasher, Cassidy Board, Audrey Gilmore and Baker by less than one second 4:17.42 to 4:18.01.
Elaina Gorton picked up a silver medal in the women's shot put with a mark of 11.41m (37-5.25) and set a new personal best in the weight throw, finishing fifth at 11.72m (38-05.50).
The teams will be off until the Northwest Open on January 21st.Â
