DES MOINES - The Truman State Track & Field teams competed at the Jim Duncan Invite hosted by Drake University on Friday at historic Drake Stadium.
Sophie Oxandale won the 400 meter dash with a PR time of 58.42. Jaylynn Martin led a trio of Bulldogs to the podium in the javelin with a mark of 37.84, Natalie Telep was second and Quinn Albertson was third. Telep also took the silver in the shot put at 11.26 meters.
The women's 4x100 relay team posted their fastest time of the season of 50.74 seconds. The team consisted of Grace Feeney, Audrey Gilmore, Natalie Smith and Oxandale.
Jacob Morris was third in the men's discus and cleared the NCAA Division II provisional distance but was still shy of his season best mark in the event. Morris' top throw on Friday flew 51.06, short of his 51.43 qualifier mark earlier in the spring.
Season/Personal best on the day included Trevor Carey in the 200 meter dash (24.17), Thomas Cormier in the 5000 meter run (15:00.03), Evan AuBuchon in the 800 meter run (2:02.32) and Nathan Bufka in the hammer (38.22). On the women's side in addition to Oxandale in her 400, Abby Cutler in the 1500 meter run (5:17.87) and Lily Ende in the 5000 (18:33.99).
