KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The Truman Track & Field teams competed in three different meets over the course of the past two days. Grace Feeney brought home the gold medal in the women's heptathlon at the Central Methodist Invite while Jacob Morris earned a NCAA provisional mark with a throw of 51.36 (PR) in the discus at Southwest Baptist.Ā
Feeney personally won four of the seven events, including two on the final day to score 4,041 points to claim the title. She won the 100 hurdles and the 200 dash on Friday then claimed the long jump and 800 on Saturday.Ā The most points scored in a single event was in the hurdles with a time of 16.66 and 635 points. Lea Moose finished fourth with 3,315 points, which included an individual win in the javelin with a mark of 34.33.
The women recorded six PRs in Fayette. Brianna Barton ran 12.86 in the 100 meter dash, Kirsten Poole posted a 16.18 in the 100 meter hurdles, Kendall Dascher ran 28.13 in the 200 meter dash, Sophie Oxandale ran 59.14 in the 400 meter dash, Poole ran 1:07.33 and Audrey Gilmore 1:09.94 in the 400 meter hurdles.
The men had four personal bests on Saturday at CMU. Trevor Carey had two, one in the 100 meter dash (11.95) and again in the 200 meter dash (24.01). Evan AuBuchon ran 4:19.16 in the 1500 meter run and Brett Griesbaum ran 55.50 in the 400 meter dash.Ā
At the Washington University Distance Carnival in St. Louis on Friday, both Lily Ende and Thomas Cormier set personal best in the meet's longest race, the 10,000 meter run. Ende ran 38:43.51, five seconds better than her previous best to place 27th. Cormier ran 31:11.23, a 40-second betterment, to finish 30th. Ryan Harness also eclipsed his previous best time in the event at 34:10.51 and was 77th.
In the 5,000-meter race, Andrew Henton posted a PR time of 15:40.08 as he finished ninth in his section and 77th overall. Cora Stimpson improved by nearly 52 seconds from her previous best time in the event and was second in her section with a time of 18:29.31 to finish 45. Addie Mathis placed 70th with a time of 19:09.56.Ā
Finally, the throwers were in Bolivar, Missouri for the Southwest Baptist Invite. Jacob Morris earned the first NCAA provisional mark for the team this outdoor season and set a new PR in the process. Morris tossed the discus 51.36 to earn the first place nod in the event. He also set a PR on Friday with a 55.74 mark in the hammer, which placed him fourth. Nathan Bufka set a PR in the event as well with a distance of 37.51. Leithym Messer had a season-best in the discus at 38.23, went 41.56 in his first hammer event and 12.28 in the shot put.
Madison Peavler set a PR in the shot put with a mark of 11.92, good for eighth. Elaina Gorton had a top distance of 36.44 in the hammer that finished 11th.
