KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman Tennis team started a busy week with a hard-fought victory over Grand View (Iowa) on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 5-2. The Bulldogs host Missouri Western on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The doubles team point was up for grabs at the number two spot after the Bulldogs claimed number three with a default win by
Calli Hepfinger and
Alayna Dostal and the Vikings edged out
Allie Brown and
Sydney Dial with a 6-4 win at number one.
With the score tied at four games each,
Akansha Negi and
Abbi Worster took the final two games to take the match and the doubles point by a 6-4 tally.
Four of the six singles matches were played with the Vikings getting the number one singles by default and won number two by a pair of 6-1 sets.
Sydney Dial fought hard at number three singles and took a straight set win by identical 6-3, 6-3 scores.
Abbi Worster was down 5-2 in set one and battled back to force and win a tie breaker 8-6 to win 7-6 and then cruised to a 6-0 win in the second to take number four singles.
The fifth and six singles matches were default wins for the Bulldogs.
