KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - The William Jewell Cardinals held off Truman Women's Soccer offensive pressure and beat the Bulldogs 2-1 on Sunday.
The Cardinals were awarded a penalty on a handball in the 23rd minute and Anya Linstrom scored her third goal of the season by converting it.
Truman played most of the second half in the Cardinal end of the field but Linstrom played a long ball ahead to Kim Munoz, who in turn was able to place the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead with under 20 minutes left to play.
The Bulldogs got on the board late when Jessica Kozal centered a perfect pass to Oliva Morris for her second goal of the season with just over a minute left to play.
Truman could not get the equalizer.
The Bulldogs will play at McKendree on Friday night and Missouri-St. Louis next Sunday.
