SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - A nearly six and a half minute scoreless drought in the first half allowed the Lincoln Blue Tigers to go on a 16-0 run and they would keep the Bulldogs at bay the rest of the way in an 85-73 victory over the Truman State Women on Tuesday afternoon.
The score was tied at 13 two-thirds into the first quarter but Lincoln poured it on while the Bulldogs struggled from the field during a 6:23 minute stretch spanning the first and second quarters.Â
Lincoln led by 23 points with 4:33 to go in the half but the Bulldogs battled back with their own scoring run.
Truman scored 12 straight and posted a 17-4 run to only trail by 10 at the break 43-33.
Emma Bulman would knock down a three-pointer with 6:15 left and Ainsley Tolson's two free throws with 2:39 to play got the Bulldogs as close as eight but Lincoln would make 12 of their 19 made free throws in the rest of the way to pull out the win.
Molly Joyce led Truman scorers with 18 points and Ellie Weltha added 16 with nine boards.
The Bulldogs were just 6-of-24 (25%) from distance during the game and had only three, three-pointers through the first three quarters of action.
Five players tallied double-figures for the Blue Tigers with Steph Torres leading with 21 points.Â
Truman State dips to 2-3 and will face Davenport (Mich.) on Wednesday at 1 p.m.Â
