Bulldog Relay Breaks School Record As Part Of Weekend Track & Field Activities

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - A new school record and several personal best highlighted the Truman State Track & Field teams trips to Pittsburg, Kansas and Davenport, Iowa this weekend.

On Friday the relay team of Addie Mathis, Alayna Pipkin, Sophie Oxandale and Lexy Henrikson took down an 18-year old school record in the 4000 meter distance medley. The group shattered the mark held by Sarah Armstrong, Christina Winkler, Candice Hoskins and Dani Rawllings that was set in 2005 with a time of 12:16.85. It was the fastest DMR in the GLVC this season thus far and the 16th fastest in the NCAA Division II, earning a provisional qualifying standard. 

Mathis ran 1200 metes, Pipkin 400, Oxandale 800 and Henrikson the final 1600 meters. 

Jacob Morris had the highest individual finish with a fifth in the Weight Throw. His distance was 19.09.

On the men side, three set PRs with Nathan Key coming up four seconds shy of the school record in the 3000 meter run. Key ran 8:32.28. Gavin Hill ran 1:59.13 in the 800 and Evan AuBuchon ran 4:25.54 in the mile.

The women had nine runners set new bests with Oxandale coming within an eyelash of breaking another school record. She ran 2:15.15 in the 800 which was .4 tenths off the 2004 mark of 2:14.75. 

The other PRs for the women were Raina Baker (1:00.03 - 400 meter dash), Lexy Henrikson (5:03.70 - mile), Reese Howard (5:33.57 - mile), Lydia Lehmbeck (2:25.18 - 800), Addie Mathis (2:18.01 - 800), Kirsten Poole (9.75 - 60 hurdles), Kati Schoenberg (11:11.58 - 3000 meter run) and Kate Yates (10:47.58 - 3000 meter run).

The group at the Saint Ambrose Tune-Up in Davenport, Iowa saw Cooper Doolin win the 400 meter dash, Kelly Hoskins grabbing the silver in the triple jump, Kendall Dascher earning the bronze in the 200 meter dash and Emma Schultz also finishing third in the mile.

Doolin ran 51.88 in his race while Hoskins jumped 12.38. Other men in the top 10 in their respective events were Jake Higgs in sixth for the pole vault (3.32 meters), Sam Kallaos seventh in the mile (4:37.22), Hayden Long in the pole vault (2.42 meters) and Max Fuller, tenth in the mile at 4:51.20.

Dascher ran 27.29 for her third place finish in the 200 and bested a personal time (1:02.05) in the 400 to place fourth. Alexandra Kliethermes finished fifth in the 200 and ninth in the 60 meter dash.

Schultz ran 5:59.32 in the mile.

Audrey Gilmore (60 hurdles), Jaylynn Martin (Weight Throw) and Destiny Zimdars (Weight Throw) all had PRs on the day.

The Bulldogs will next be at the Hilltop Classic hosted by Illinois College next Friday.
