MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Truman State baseball scored three runs in the ninth to secure a comeback victory over Kentucky Wesleyan in the series finale.
Kentucky Wesleyan scored a run in the first and second inning to make it a 2-0 ballgame before Truman tied it up in the third. Luke Turner hit a ground ball that Wesleyan's shortstop was unable to handle, scoring Kevin Donohue. Tal Dean scored on a Dylan Thompson ground out, making it a 2-2 game.
Wesleyan took the lead back in the bottom of the third off a line drive single from Zach Curtis. The Panthers held a 3-2 lead.
The scoring picked back up in the fifth inning, with both teams scoring twice. Kevin Donohue scored on another error, and Dylan Thompson drove Luke Turner in with a single. Kentucky Wesleyan went up 5-4 off an RBI double from Zach Curtis and another run from a Truman fielder's choice.
Down by one in the ninth, the Bulldogs scored three runs to take a 7-5 lead. Luke Turner hit an RBI single, Jack Darwin walked with the bases loaded, and Turner came home on a wild pitch.
Wesleyan added a run in the top of the ninth to make it a 7-6 game, but were unable to retake the lead from the Bulldogs.
Tal Dean went 2-3 with a run.
Luke Turner had a productive day, going 1-4 with two runs and two RBIs.
Kevin Donohue recorded a hit and three runs.
Brian Bruxvoort took the win, pitching 2.0 innings with one hit allowed and three strikeouts.
Truman went 3-1 in their first series of the season, and play four against Southwest Baptist starting Friday, February 24th, at 5 p.m.
