Bats Get Hot & Schneider Deals In Win At SBU

BOLIVAR, Mo. - Truman State Men's baseball defeated Southwest Baptist 12-5 in game one of their series.

The Bulldogs got on the board in a hurry, scoring twice in the first inning. Luke Turner hit a double into right-center gap, where Tal Dean scored on a Bearcats error. Holden Missey Drove Turner to add the second run. SBU scored a run of their own in the first, with Dean Hagenhoff reached on an error, then an SBU baserunner scored on the error.

Truman scored five consecutive runs, coming in the fourth and eighth inning. Simon Murray hit a three-RBI triple in the fourth, and Holden Missey hit a two-run home run in the eighth.

SBU attempted a late-game comeback in the eighth and ninth, scoring two in the eighth and two in the ninth.

Zachry Schneider threw a gem, going seven innings with zero earned runs. He struck out three SBU batters and walked two.

Holden Missey hit his first home run of the season, going 2-5 with 3 RBIs.

Luke Turner went 2-5 with a double, triple, and 4 RBIs.

Simon Murray went 1-4 with three RBIs and a triple.

Truman plays two against SBU tomorrow at noon and 3 p.m.
