LIBERTY, Mo. - Truman State Men's basketball played their final game of the 2022-23 season, falling to William Jewell 66-64 in a close contest.
The Bulldogs went into the half up two, with the score being 32-30. Truman shot 14-40 from the field, compared to William Jewell's 12-24. The Bulldogs held an 11-point lead with 7:48 left in the half, but William Jewell was able to cut the lead to two.
William Jewell outscored Truman 36-32 in the second half, winning the game by two. Truman shot 13-31 from the field, and 4-11 from three in the half. William Jewell went 14-24 shooting and 4-9 from three.
Truman turned the ball over only six times in the game, and William Jewell gave the ball away 16 times. The Bulldogs went 2-2 from the free three line, and the Cardinals went 8-14.
Hunter Strait scored a game-high 23 points in his final game as a Bulldog. He went 9-18 from the field and 3-5 from three. He added two rebounds, an assist, and a steal in 34 minutes played.
Xavier Hall dropped 17 with three rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Elijah Hazekamp scored nine with nine boards, two assists, and two steals.
Truman finishes the season with a 12-16 record overall, and 7-13 in the GLVC.
