BOLIVAR, Mo. - Truman baseball had an offensive explosion against SBU, defeating the Bearcats 19-12.
The Bulldogs recorded 16 hits in 42 at bats, with 18 of the 19 runs being RBIs.
SBU scored one in the first before the Bulldogs took the lead in the second and fourth innings, scoring four runs. Luke Roussel had an RBI double, Tal Dean had a two-RBI double, Luke Turner had an RBI single, and Dakota Spicer hit a three-run home run.
The Bearcats got four back in the fourth from an error, double, fielder's choice, and a single. Tal Dean answered immediately with a grand slam in the fifth, becoming the eighth Bulldog to record six or more RBIs in a game.
The Bulldogs had a monster sixth inning, with PJ Jerszynski scoring on an error, Dakota Spicer walking with the bases loaded, a two-RBI double from Luke Turner, and Holden Missey hitting a two-RBI double.
SBU got four back in the sixth and seventh, but Dakota Spicer scoring on an error and Holden Missey driving in Dean on a single in the eighth sealed the game for the Bulldogs.
Tal Dean had a monster game, going 3-4 with six RBIs, a home run, and was hit-by-pitch twice.
Dakota Spicer drove in four in his 1-3 day, he also reached home four times.
Holden Missey went 3-6 with three RBIs. Missey made his way up an all-time leaderboard this series. He moved into 10th in career runs scored.
Luke Turner got two hits in five at bats, scoring three Bulldogs.
Simon Murray threw 3.1 innings, giving up three earned runs, striking out five, and walking five.
Issac Epp got the win for the Bulldogs, giving up no runs and striking out one SBU batter.
Coach Dan Davis is now tied for first in career wins with 238.
Truman State is now 6-2 to start the season, and hosts University of Mary from Friday, March 3rd-Sunday, March 5th.
