TOPEKA, Kan. - The Truman State Track & Field teams headed for the largest indoor meet in the short history of the Washburn Indoor Track & Field facility for the two-day Washburn Open.Â
Jacob Morris was the highest individual placer for the Bulldogs with a third in the weight throw with a mark of 117.79 meters. Morris was 10th in the shot put with a distance of 15.23 meters.
Lexi Henrikson ran a personal best in the 800 meter run at 2:18.62 which was good for seventh. Addie Mathis also set a PR in the event at 2:20.57 and placed ninth.
The women's 4x400 team of Sophie Oxandale, Kendall Dascher, Alayna Pipkin and Raina Baker took fourth with a time of 4:01.96.
Oxandale ran her fastest 400 of the season at 59.07 as did Baker at 1:00.40. In the women's mile, season top times went to Cora Stimpson (5:28.92), Breanna Mathes (5:29.21), Kate Yates (5:30.80) and Reese Howard (5:37.65). Natalie Telep turned in her best mark in the shot put at 11.22 meters.Â
The men also had some top performances for the season, notably in the 800 as Nathan Key (1:57.55), Ryan Gustafson (2:00.06) and Gavin Hill (2:01.35) ran. Evan AuBuchon paced 4:29.24 in the mile and Jacob Gutzman (9:03.66) and Ryan Harness (9:09.88) in the 3000 meter run.
The Bulldogs will head to another top-notch indoor facility next Saturday when they compete in the Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State University. That facility hosted the Division II nationals last March.Â
