BOLIVAR, Mo. - Several personal bests, a new school record and a pair of golds for the Truman State Track & Field Teams this weekend at the Southwest Baptist Invite in Bolivar. Junior Jacob Morris broke his third school record as he toppled the 29-year men's Hammer Throw mark during the meet.

Morris, on Friday, cleared 60.01 meters in the event and surpassed the 1994 record that was held by Geoff Heskett at 57.36. That mark was also hit an NCAA qualifying standard, making it the second event Morris is now eligible for later this spring. He placed third in the meet. Morris won his signature event, the Discus on Saturday with a winning launch of 54.14 meters. 

The other gold medal came on the women's side as Sophie Oxandale bested the field in the 800 meter run. Oxandale ran 2:16.15 to win while Alayna Pipkin ran a PR 2:21.07 to grab 10th place.

Lexy Henrikson and Addie Mathis both set PRs in the 1500 meter runs and turned in top five finishes. Henrikson ran 4:41.38 and was fourth while Mathis was the next runner to finish at 4:42.74.

Ellie Weltha picked up a bronze in the Shot Put and a fourth in the discus and Kati Schoeneberg was fourth in the 3000 meter steeplechase race.

Nathan Key ran a PR time of 15:07.33 and finished third in the 5000 meter run. Key's previous best was 15:57.20. 

Between the men's and women's programs, over 20 personal best marks were set during the meet.

The teams will next take to the oval at the Central (Iowa) College Invite in Pella next Saturday.
