MARYVILLE, Mo. - Truman State softball fell in both games of a doubleheader against 22-20 Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday afternoon.
Game One:
The Bulldogs lost game one 6-2 after the Bearcats scored in the first, second, and fourth innings to take a 6-0 lead.Â
Brooke Nutter hit an RBI single in the fifth and Maria McGonegle hit a double to score Nutter to make it 6-2.
Nutter tallied a team-high two hits along with her RBI and run scored.
Macy Taylor, Alex Beard, Kreianna Klein, Callie Unrein, McGonegle, and Madi McCarty all had hits in the game.
Klein threw five innings, giving up three earned runs and striking out three.
McKenzie West threw a shutout inning.
Game Two:
The Bearcats took game two 5-0 behind three home runs and a shutout from Breck Dickey.
Northwest scored all five of their runs off home runs, with one coming in the first and two in the sixth.
Cameryn Patterson went 2-3 at the plate with McKenzie West and Macy Taylor having a hit each.
Annabel Zimmer threw 5.1 innings, giving up all five runs scored while striking out four Bearcat batters. Brooke Nutter threw 0.2 innings, striking out one with no hits.
The Bulldogs play two against Illinois Springfield on Friday, April 14th, and two against Lewis on Sunday, April 16th.
