INDIANAPOLIS – Truman State linebacker
Ulysses Ross has earned his first Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week award following a career-high 13 tackles in the Bulldogs 28-24 victory over South Dakota Mines on Saturday.
Ross led the unit with 13 tackles, nine solo and assisted on four others. He was also credited with two pass breakups during the victory. His previous high was nine tackles that occurred in two games last season, against Hillsdale (Mich.) and in the bowl victory over Tiffin (Ohio).
The Bulldog defensive unit will have a tough test ahead on Saturday as Saginaw Valley State is third in Division II through two weeks in rushing yards per game at 318 and in the top 25 in total yards per game at 445.
More information on this week's showdown will be posted on Wednesday.
