KENOSHA, Wisc - Truman State volleyball lost two hard-fought matches in the Hampton Inn Invitational to Purdue Northwest and Moorhead State.
The Bulldogs lost 3-2 in both, falling to 3-4 on the season.
Game One:
In the first match against Purdue Northwest, Northwest won the first two sets 26-24 and 25-21. Truman stormed back to take the next two 25-23 and 25-23. With each having won two sets, they went into an extra set, where Purdue Northwest took it with a 16-14 score.
Eight different Bulldogs recorded a kill against Purdue Northwest, with Hanna Berry leading with 11. Taylor Schafer, Allison Beaton, Elise Gibson, and Jessie Julius had nine each.
Ten Truman players recorded points in the contest.
Game Two:
The second match was back and forth as well, with both teams gaining and losing momentum. Moorhead State took set one 25-21, then Truman won the next two 25-22 and 25-19. Moorhead won the fourth set 25-16 to take it into a fifth set where the Bulldogs lost 15-7.
Allison Beaton, Dani Kurth, and Hanna Berry each had double-digit kills, with Beaton hitting .609.
Beaton also had a service ace in the match.
Kurth led in total points with 18.5.
Emma Baierl led in assists with 22, followed by Tori Creason with 17.
Truman wraps up play in the Hampton Inn Invitational against Winona State on Saturday, September 9th, at 11 a.m.
