QUINCY, Ill. - Truman State freshman Kobi Williams dropped a career-high 29 points in a 75-73 loss to Quincy University.
In the first half, the Bulldogs jumped out to a 17-5 lead over the Hawks, but Quincy finally took the lead with 1:23 left in the half. Quincy went into the break up 33-28. Kobi Williams led all scorers in the half with 13. As a team, Truman shot 11-26 from the field and 6-18 from three.
While the Bulldogs faced an 11-point deficit with 12:27 left in the final half, they battled back and took the lead back again with 5:48 left. Quincy took the lead back and did not give it up for the rest of the game. The Bulldogs and Hawks traded buckets towards the end of the game, but Quincy came out on top.
Kobi Williams was incredibly efficient in his career-high performance. He shot 9-11 from the field and 6-7 from three. He also went 5-7 from the free throw line and had a rebounds, two assists, and an impressive five steals.
Trey Shearer was second in scoring with 14 on 4-12 shooting, and Xavier Hall also scored 10 to reach double-digits. Shearer had four rebounds and an assist, while Hall had four rebounds and five assists.
CE Talton was the next closest scorer with nine on 4-7 shooting.
Landon Eiland led Truman in rebounds with 11 and also had five assists.
The Bulldogs return to action in Springfield, Illinois to take on the UIS Prairie Stars on Saturday at 3 p.m.
