KIRKSVILLE, Mo. - Truman State Men's basketball picked up their second-straight win with a victory over Southwest Baptist on a snowy night in Pershing Arena.
Nearly the entire first-half of the game was close before a three from Kobi Williams, a layup from Joe Knutson, and a layup from Williams put the Bulldogs up 37-29 with 0:45 left in the half. The Bearcats hit two free throws with 0:30 left to go into the break trailing by six.
The Bulldogs got off to a blazing start in the second-half, going on an 8-0 run after SBU cut the lead to four. Truman State would not let the Bearcats back in the game, playing excellent defense and consistently hitting shots. The Bulldogs truly pulled away with 5:50 left in the game, going up 20 after an Xavier Hall three. Truman only increased their lead by the end of the game, winning 84-58 to earn another GLVC win.
Trey Shearer had a hot hand for Truman, dropping 24 points on 6-10 shooting from three.Â
Kobi Williams had 19 points along with five rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals.
Xavier Hall was the final Bulldog with double-digits, scoring 10 on 3-7 shooting. Hall had two boards, six assists, a block, and two steals.
Joe Knutson, Landon Eiland, Casen Lawrence, Cooper Randall, Jermarco Burse Jr., Blaise Porter, and Matt Haefner all scored points as well. Tobias Reizner played but recorded no stats.
Despite not scoring, CE Talton had three rebounds and five assists.Â
Truman State shot 28-51 (54.9%) from the field, and 15-32 (46.9%) from three. They also went 13-15 (86.7%) from the free throw line.
The Bulldogs are now 6-9 overall, and 3-4 in the GLVC. Truman State returns to action this Saturday against Drury at home at 3 p.m.
