Their last lead was heading into the fourth quarter media timeout at the 4:09 mark at 51-50 but was erased on free throws by Brooke Woodyard. Stokes followed later with a jumper to make it 54-51 with under three left to play however Truman State fought back and knotted the score at 57 on free throws by Ainsley Tolson with 50 seconds showing.
Stokes later made just one of two at the stripe with 25 seconds left to keep it a one-possession game at 60-57. The Bulldogs appeared content to play for a tie as the clock milked down toward zero. The ball eventually ended up in Claire Rake's hands and she launched a three-pointer near the buzzer but was incredulously fouled by Stokes on the shot attempt.

Another delay to check the clock resulted in Ramthum missing the first attempt but hitting the second to keep it only three-point game. The Bulldogs called timeout for advancement and the in-bounds play for a potential tie was a pass to Ellie Weltha for a layup as time expired.
Tolson led four Bulldogs in double figures with 13 points and hit all 11 of her free throw attempts. Rake finished with 12, Weltha 11 and Maddie Niemeier scored 10, connecting on all five of her field goal attempts.
Stokes led all scorers with 27 points and Ramthun added 10.
