Coming off a narrow defeat to UMSL in St. Louis, the Truman State Women's basketball team hits the road again for games at Quincy and Illinois Springfield.

Before the loss to UMSL, the Bulldogs were defeated 80-54 by Indianapolis at home on Wednesday night. Truman State now sits at 3-9 overall and 0-6 in GLVC play.

Ellie Weltha leads Truman in scoring with 17.6 points per game, followed by Claire Rake at an even 10.0 points. Ainsley Tolson is just behind Rake, scoring 9.9 a game.

Weltha nearly averages a double-double, grabbing 9.1 boards per game.

Tolson averages a team-high 3.3 assists a contest.

The Quincy Hawks are 4-10 overall with a 3-5 record in conference play. The Hawks have defeated William Jewell, Missouri S&T, and Maryville from the GLVC.

The UIS Prairie Stars are 7-7 so far and 5-3 in GLVC contests. Their five GLVC wins are against SBU, Maryville, Missouri S&T, Drury, and William Jewell. 

The Men's squad also take on Quincy and Illinois Springfield on the road following an 0-2 week against Indianapolis and UMSL.

Against UINDY, the game was tied 11-11 with 12:08 left in the first-half until the Greyhounds went on a 10-0 run to take an early advantage. Truman State clawed their way back and cut the lead to five at the 4:33 mark, but UINDY gained momentum back and went into the half up 34-25. The second-half is where UINDY started to pull away, going up 25 with more than 15 minutes remaining in the game. The Greyhounds soon went on to take over the game, winning by 38. Blaise Porter was Truman’s top scorer with 10. He was the only Bulldog to reach double-digit points Porter also had two rebounds and two assists. Trey Shearer, Xavier Hall, and Caden Lawrence all had six points each. Hall and Shearer each had three assists which led Truman. Joe Knutson, CE Talton, Brennan Lovette, Kobi Williams, and Jermarco Burse all recorded points in the game.

Against UMSL, both teams were trading leads for more than 10 minutes in the first-half before the Tritons gained momentum and went into the break up 42-25. The Bulldogs found themselves down 17 to began the second-half and tried their best make a comeback. Truman cut the UMSL lead to single-digits three times over the last 20 minutes of the game but were unable to swing the game back in their favor. The Tritons went on to win the game by 14 and the Bulldogs fall to 4-8 overall and 1-3 in GLVC play. Landon Eiland led Truman in scoring with 13 points on 4-8 shooting. He also had three rebounds. Casen Lawrence and Matt Haefner both had 12 points, being the other two players with double-digit points for the Bulldogs. Lawrence shot 4-7 from the field and three while recording a rebound, an assist, and a steal. Haefner had three boards and two assists. Blaise Porter had a team-high in assists with 7 and four Bulldogs had two assists which led the team. Brennan Lovette had Truman’s only block in the game.

Kobi Williams, Trey Shearer, and Xavier Hall are the Truman players scoring 10+ points per game so far this season. Williams averages a team-high 10.8, followed by Shearer and Hall both at 10.2. Brennan Lovette is close to the double-digit average with 9.3 points per game.

The Quincy Hawks are 8-6 overall and an even 3-3 in conference play. Their conference wins are against Maryville, McKendree, and SBU.

The UIS Prairie Stars are 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the GLVC. UIS has the most overall wins and third-most conference wins in the conference.

Truman State swim hosts William Jewell College (Mo.) for their first competition since December 2nd.

Their last meet was a homecoming for head coach Jacob Ragsdell, returning to Ouachita Baptist where he swam. The Truman men lost 173-58 and the women fell 117-112 in a close finish.

Meg Heveroh won the women's 1000 free in a time of 10:15.12, Abby Bomball was third in 11:09.59. Heveroh won the 500 free (5:01.00) with Taylor Graham second (5:16.43).

A.J. Kohler claimed the 200 free with a race time of 1:39.37 and 100 free (46.17).

Emily Traube was the victor in the 50 free (23.93) and the 100 free (52.20).

Emma Harris touched in 2:08.91 to win the 200 backstroke.

Chloe Myers and Allison Heaney finished 1-2 in the 200 breastroke. Myers swam 2:29.53 and Heaney in 2:30.34.

The 400 free relay team of Heveroh, Kylie Strobl, Harris and Traube won the event in 3:31.73.
