BOLIVAR, Mo. – Truman State Volleyball stayed out of the five-set trap by defeating Southwest Baptist for season's first victory.
The Bulldogs had lost five consecutive five-set affairs prior to the win over the Bearcats with 11 of the 16 losses going the full five sets. The 'Dogs took 2-0 leads in back-to-back matches, Friday evening at Drury and today again at SBU, only to lose the third set both matches with the Bearcats dominating Set 3, 25-20. Set 4 looked to be a back-and-forth until the Purple and White pulled away to 17-12 lead. SBU came as close as 23-20 but kills from
Tori Creason and
Jessica Proszenyak sealed the win.
Michaela Goad paced the Bulldogs with 15 kills while
Emma Baierl and
Tori Creason split setting duties with 23 and 14 assists, respectively.
Addy Janssen tallied 19 digs with three assists.
The Bulldogs 2024 mark stands at 1-16 overall, 1-4 in GLVC action, while SBU falls to 8-12 overall, 0-5 in conference play.
