This Week in Bulldog Athletics Oct. 21-27

Events abound as Truman State celebrates Homecoming 2024 with Swimming, Men's and Women's Soccer, Volleyball, and Football all home while Women's Tennis hits the road and Cross Country competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship.
 
WOMEN'S TENNIS – The fall season ends for Truman State Women's Tennis at the Ottawa (Kan.) Invitational in Ottawa, Kan. Now 5-3, the Bulldogs narrowly fell to Missouri Valley College, 4-3, Oct. 17 at the Truman Tennis Courts in Kirksville. 
 
SWIMMING –Bulldog Men's and Women's Swimming play host to Ouachita Baptist (Kan.) University at the Pershing Natatorium in Kirksville. Friday's events start at 5 p.m. while things get underway at 10 a.m. Saturday. Truman State defeated Maryville (Mo.) University - 214-16 on the women's side and 212-27 on the men's - Oct. 19 at home.
 
WOMEN'S SOCCER – Truman State Women's Soccer, 3-6-4 overall, 2-5-3 GLVC, completes the home portion of the 2024 campaign with a pair at Stokes Stadium. Lincoln (Mo.) University, 5-9 overall, 1-9 GLVC, is up first at noon on Friday with Missouri S&T, 2-9-2 overall, 2-6-2 GLVC, at noon on Sunday. The Bulldogs lost two over the previous weekend: 1-0 at Drury on Oct. 18 and 1-0 to Southwest Baptist on Oct. 20. This marks the first time Lincoln and Truman State will face off in Women's Soccer while the 'Dogs hold a 29-8-3 all-time advantage over the Miners including a 1-0 win in Rolla, Mo., one year ago.
 
MEN'S SOCCER – Bulldog Men's Soccer wraps play at home in '24 against Lincoln at 2:30 Friday and Missouri S&T at 2:30 on Sunday at Stokes Stadium. Lincoln, 4-5-3 overall, 3-5-2 GLVC, is 0-18 against the Bulldogs all-time with Truman State winning the last meeting, 7-0, on Oct. 21, 2001, in Jefferson City. Missouri S&T has fared better over time against the 'Dogs, with Truman State holding a 24-17-6 edge, including winning the 2023 match, 1-0, in Rolla. The Bulldogs split conference action over the weekend falling to Drury, 1-4, on Friday but taking a 2-0 victory over Southwest Baptist Sunday. Truman State enters weekend play 4-5-3 overall, 3-4-3 GLVC.
 
VOLLEYBALL – Fresh off a 3-0 weekend at the Midwest Region Volleyball Crossover, Bulldog Volleyball returns home for a pair against GLVC foes 4-16 overall and 1-4 GLVC. William Jewell (Mo.) University, 7-14 overall, 1-5 GLVC, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday while Rockhurst (Mo.) University, 13-5 overall, 4-2 GLVC, is slated for 6 p.m. Saturday with both contests in Pershing Arena. The Bulldogs hold a 14-3 all-time advantage over William Jewell, including a perfect 7-0 in Pershing, while Rockhurst has gotten the better of the 'Dogs, 16-8, all time. Rockhurst enters Pershing Arena 13-5 overall, 4-2 GLVC, having won the previous 14 matches against Truman State including a 3-1 win in 2023. The Bulldogs last defeated Rockhurst, 3-2, on Oct. 4, 2014.
  
CROSS COUNTRY – Truman State Men's and Women's Cross Country teams travel to the University of Illinois Springfield for the GLVC Cross Country Championships. The Men's 8k starts at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 6k race slated for 10:30 a.m. at the UIS Cross Country Course.
 
FOOTBALL – McKendree (Ill.) University comes to Stokes Stadium for Homecoming 2024 against the Bulldogs at 2 p.m. Saturday. The 3-4 overall, 2-2 GLVC Bearcats fell to the University of Indianapolis Oct. 19, 42-34, while Truman State fought Quincy to a 28-21 victory this past Saturday to up its record to 4-3 overall, 3-1 GLVC. The Bulldogs hold a 9-2 all-time advantage over McKendree while riding a six-game win streak including a 56-24 drubbing one year ago.
