ST. LOUIS, Mo. –Maryville (Mo.) University kept rolling through GLVC play defeating the Bulldogs 3-0 in afternoon women's soccer action.
The shutout, the fifth consecutive for the No. 8 team in Division II, allowed the Saints to claim the 2024 GLVC Regular Season Championship. Truman State, with 15 points on the campaign, remains in a dead heat with division rivals Upper Iowa University and Quincy (Ill.) University before Friday evening action.
Truman State played from behind nearly the entire match when Maryville's Maddie Dickerman scored in the game's 16th minute. It remained 1-0 until the 73rd and 75th minutes when Saints Lexi Gentry and then Nika Vemdal scored to put the contest out of reach.
The 'Dogs were not allowed a single shot on goal, while the 27 shots, 15 shots on goal, and three goals scored were all season highs for an opponent against the Purple and White.
The 5-7-4 overall, 4-6-3 GLVC Bulldogs travel to the University of Missouri-St. Louis for a noon contest Sunday to finish the regular season schedule. UMSL, 7-3-2 conference, 10-3-2 overall, plays host to William Jewell (Mo.) College Friday evening.
