Minnesota State throttles Bulldog Men’s Hoops 95-64

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Minnesota State's Kyreese Willingham scored 31 in a 95-64 defeat of Truman State at Augustana's Bill Gross Classic Saturday.

The Bulldogs held a 12-10 advantage with 13 minutes to play in the first half when a Minnesota State three pointer gave the Mavericks a lead they would not relinquish. Leading 62-26 at the half, Truman State never managed to get back within 26 points with the Mavericks taking the points off turnover battle 26-11. Minnesota State, 14-31 for 45.2 percent in threes, dominated Truman State behind the arc as the Purple and White could muster just 5-26 for 19.2 percent in three-point shooting.

The 14 points from Isaiah Reams allowed the junior guard to pace the 'Dogs in scoring for the second consecutive contest after his 16 against Augustana (S.D.) tied sophomore guard Kobi Williams for game high. Junior forward Brennan Lovette grabbed eight boards with Reams and freshman forward Marquis Carver-Smith notching four each.

The Bulldogs fall to 4-3 on the campaign and will look for their first win against one loss in GLVC action at 3 p.m. Thursday, December 5, at Southwest Baptist (Mo.) in Bolivar. Minnesota State evens its 2024-25 record at 4-4.
