LIBERTY, MO. – Truman State defeated William Jewell (Mo.) 34-0 to record its first shutout since 2021.
The Bulldogs recorded 310 yards on the ground including 100-yard days from
Dylan Hair and
Denim Cook to dominate the Cardinal defense. Cook, with 141 yards on 12 carries, notched his third 100-yard game while his 10th touchdown on the year came via a 66-yard run with 12:09 remaining in the second quarter.
Dylan Hair rushed for 106 yards, his first time eclipsing the century mark, and scored his fourth touchdown rushing on a 9-yard play with 4:37 to go in the third.
The Bulldogs got off to a 10-0 start in the first quarter on one of
Vinnie Calvaruso's two field goals on the day along with a
Ulysses Ross recovered fumble while the clock on the quarter wound down.
Markiese Jones grabbed a Pick 6 off Cardinal quarterback Jake Shaffer from the William Jewell 36 to set the score at 24-0.
Truman State had not shutout an opponent since a 52-0 homecoming drubbing of the same William Jewell Cardinals on Oct. 23, 2021, and have outscored their opponents 86-7 in the previous two games. The Purple and White climb to 5-4
The Bulldogs, 6-4 overall and 5-2 in GLVC play, welcome Southwest Baptist (Mo.) University for the final game of the 2024 regular season at noon on Saturday, Nov. 16.
