Friday Night Action For Truman State Track & Field

RESULTS
 
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Jacob Morris brought home gold and silver, Kelly Hoskins won silver and Tyler Davis set a pair of personal best for Truman State Track & Field at the Illinois College Hilltop Invite on Friday evening.
 
Morris cleared 20-meters for the second straight week in the weight throw and won the event with a mark of 20.14. In the shot put, Morris finished second behind Kirksville native and Missouri S&T thrower Owen Fraser with a distance an NCAA provisional distance of 16.48 meters. Fraser won with 17.07 meters.
 
Hoskins entered the long jump and pole vault and set a new PR in the long jump as he flew 6.34 meters. His previous best was 6.19.  In the vault, he cleared 3.97 meters on his first attempt but could not get over 4.12 and finished sixth.
 
Davis set two of the men's team's nine PRs on Friday. Both came in his throw events as he placed third in the shot put at 15.99 meters and was 22nd in the weight throw at 12.59 meters. Other PRs on the men's team were set by Ryan Harness in the 3000 meter run (9:05.05), Hayden Long in the long jump (6.21), Nick Fuess and Dan Hahn in the mile run (4:55.50/4:53.05) and Leithym Messer in the weight throw (15.89).
 
The women had six personal bests set during the meet. Emma Schultz in the 3000-meter run (11:36.03), Lyla Rider in the 800 meter run (2:41.68), Vade Moore in the long jump (4.85), Kati Schoeneberg in the mile (5:32.10) and both Hailey Derboven (8.41) and Audrey Gilmore (9.80) in the triple jump.
 
Gilmore matched Schultz for the highest individual finish for an event with both placing fifth.
 
The Bulldogs will head to Indianapolis for the traditional site of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Track & Field championships next weekend. However, instead of the event taking place on the campus of the University of Indianapolis, the championship will break in a new facility that will host the 2025 NCAA Division II Nationals. The event will take place at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.  The two-day event will be streamed on the GLVC Sports Network.
