INDIANAPOLIS - In his final chance in the Shot Put event, Jacob Morris clinched his first Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor event championship and fourth overall conference title as he won the event with a mark of 16.44 meters. Both the men's and women's teams finished sixth at the conference meet on Sunday.
Morris trailed Missouri S&T's Ethan Crouch by one-one hundredth of a meter (15.92 to 15.91) after five rounds of throwing. In his last attempt, Morris became the only competitor to clear 16 meters with a 16.44 measurement. Tyler Davis vaulted to the podium spot and the bronze medal on his last throw of 15.86 meters.
Morris was second in the weight throw on Saturday. He previously won the outdoor events of the Discus (2023/2022) and Hammer Throw (2023).
Max McMullin scored 3.5 team points in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.87 meters.
Hayden Long set a new personal best in the Heptathlon by scoring 4,326 points, up from 3,958. He finished eighth overall but also set a PR in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.01 seconds.
Nolan Meara and Brycen Compton set PRs in the 3000-meter run and 800-meter run respectively.
Addie Mathis won bronze in the women's mile run as she scored six points with a time of 5:04.55.
Addison Walker earned four points with a 10.75 meter leap in the Triple Jump and finished fifth.
The Bulldog women scored 10 team points in the 800-meter run. Raina Baker just missed the podium with a fourth place finish in 2:19.98, Lydia Lehmbeck ran a PR and was fifth at 2:20.06 and Kendall Dascher grabbed the eighth spot for a team point with a time of 2:24.26.
The women's 4x400 relay team of Mathis, Dascher, Lexy Henrikson and Baker placed sixth to pick up three team points.
The men scored 34.5 points and the women tallied 31 points over the weekend.
Selections to the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be made during the week and the Division II Championships will take place March 8-9 in Pittsburg, Kansas.
